Human Resources Specialist

Administration Directorate

Overview

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Human Resources Specialist position available in our Administration Directorate, under our HR Division. This position will work in a variety of activities affecting human resources and business functions of the Center and will also will be involved in or responsible for recruiting, onboarding, internal HR systems development and improvements, employee relations and appointment processing including new hire, maintenance and payroll approvals. Other duties include assisting with immigration, training, organizational development, reporting and employee recognition/motivation programs. In addition, this position will work closely with the NCSA business office, program managers and staff, as well as various colleges and departments on campus regarding HR matters.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field required. Alternative degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years progressive work experience in human resources.
  • Demonstrative ability to research, interpret, and make recommendations based on HR policy.
  • Practical experience working with HR processes, procedures and systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with applicant tracking, employee management systems and reporting tools.
  • Sound experience in national, state and large organization HR policies and procedures.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Banner, I9 Tracker or other similar human resource application systems experience.

This is a regular academic professional position at NCSA and is an annually renewable, 12/12, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and start date will be as soon as possible after the close date of the search.
