Resource and Policy Analyst

Finance Division

Overview

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Resource and Policy Analyst position available in our Administration Directorate, under our Finance Division. This position provides expertise in the management of a portfolio of sponsored research awards, projects and/or programs, and supports the general accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and reporting functions of the NCSA Finance office. The Analyst provides first-rate customer service to NCSA staff by serving as a financial expert in the management of the portfolio and the interpretation of law, policy, and procedures. The Analyst will also work with other NCSA administrative staff to maintain expense and encumbrance data (Banner, BA3, MIS Tools), assist with the implementation and modification of automated tools, assist with proposal preparation and submission, and provide financial reports as required by NCSA management.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field required (advanced degree preferred). Alternate degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to this position). Degree must be completed by time of official hire date.
  • Finance experience and practice of complicated grant, contracts and financial programs.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office products and automated database tools.
  • Sufficient knowledge of computers to function comfortably in a computer-intensive work environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Practice in and exposure to University or fund accounting fundamentals.
  • A working knowledge of Banner, View Direct (Document Direct), and University General and Financial guidelines.
  • Ability to evaluate routine accounting problems, and analyze/interpret complex accounting records and reports.

This is a regular academic professional position at NCSA and is an annually renewable, 12/12, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and start date will be as soon as possible after the close date of the search.
