Performance Analyst

Private Sector Program

Overview

The Private Sector Program (PSP) at NCSA is looking for an hourly graduate student to work on scalability analysis of parallel linear solvers and commercial finite element packages. The successful candidate will be executing this industrially funded project on the NCSA's state of the art high performance computing (HPC) systems such as iForge and Blue Waters under the guidance of a PSP technical leader. He/she will write the report and present it to the funding company at the end of the project.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with linux and HPC computing environment
  • Experience in FORTRAN and C/C++ programming
  • Ability to clearly communicate results and their importance (verbally and in writing)

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in numerical methods, parallel programming, and performance analysis
  • Experience in deploying and using sparse linear solver libraries such as Petsc and Hypre
  • Experience in using commercial finite element packages such as Nastran and Abaqus

Salary support for a Computer Science or Engineering graduate student at a part-time appointment up to seven months will be provided. The rate of pay for this position will be commensurate with experience and the student should be able to work 20 hours per week.

This student will work on location at NCSA, 1205 W. Clark St Urbana, IL.
