Technology Writer

Public Affairs

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is seeking a student from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to work in its Public Affairs Division.

The student worker will have the opportunity to write science and technology-oriented feature stories for NCSA's website and magazine; will assist in the compilation, writing, and editing of NCSA's weekly in-house newsletter; will assist in the monitoring, compilation, and analysis of NCSA media appearances; will upload and manage content in the center's image database; and may be asked to perform other duties, including editing online calendars, assisting with tours and events, and other projects as assigned.

The student must be available to work January 2010-May 2010; summer 2010 hours are preferred, but are not required. The student will be paid $9 per hour and is expected to work 10 to 15 hours per week.

Writing/editing experience is required, and strong attention to detail is essential; some experience with HTML and other Web technologies is preferred but not required.
