Public Affairs
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is seeking a student from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to work in its Public Affairs Division during summer 2009 (May-August).
The student will have the opportunity to write science and technology-oriented feature stories for NCSA's website and online newsletter; will assist in the compilation, writing, and editing of NCSA's weekly in-house newsletter; will assist in the monitoring, compilation, and analysis of NCSA media appearances; will upload and manage content in
the center's image database; and may be asked to perform other duties, including editing online calendars, assisting with tours and events, and other projects as assigned.
The student will be paid $9 per hour and is expected to work 10 to 15 hours per week.
Students majoring in journalism, rhetoric, or English are encouraged to apply. Writing/editing experience is required, and strong attention to detail is essential; some experience with HTML and other Web technologies is preferred but not required.
