Local Information
The Champaign County Conventions and Visitors Bureau provides information on things to do and to see, as well as places to stay and to eat. It also posts a calendar of local events.
Local arts organization 40 North/88 West maintains a calendar of music, theater, and arts happenings.
Some highlights of the campus include:
- Krannert Center for Performing Arts hosts more than 300 theatrical and musical performances each year.
- Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion has 9,000 works, ranging from ancient Egyptian art to contemporary photographs, in its permanent collection and also showcases art from other museums and collections with changing exhibitions throughout the year.
- Spurlock Museum celebrates the diversity of cultures through time and across the globe with permanent galleries highlighting the Ancient Mediterranean, Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.
- Japan House offers an opportunity to learn about traditional Japanese culture through tours and tea ceremonies. The beautiful gardens are open every day until dusk.
