As noted in previous information provided in January 1997, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) is working to help you continue your CM-5 computational research on the T3D and T3E systems. PSC representatives have already begun making contact with CM-5 users in order to gather data for planning a smooth migration for those of you who might choose this option. If they haven't reached you yet and you want to move from the CM5 to the T3D/E, we encourage you to contact the Consulting Offices listed below.
Currently, the T3D is in a production made and is ready for migration of CM-5 users and allocations. The T3E is currently in a Friendly User mode and may have some restrictions to accesss for a short time. Information on the computing environment on the T3D and T3E is available on the Web at: http://www.psc.edu/machines/cray/t3d/t3d.html and http://www.psc.edu/machines/cray/t3e/t3e.html.
Additionally, there are training materials on using the T3D available at: http://www.psc.edu/training/T3D_Oct_96/Contents.html
Of note to current CM Fortran users is that the Portland Group HPF compiler is currently available on a demonstration license on both the T3D and T3E at PSC.
The conversion factors for CM-5 Service Units to T3D and T3E Processing Element Hours are 19.0 and 4.8 respectively.
If your are interested in migrating the unused balance of your allocation to the PSC machines, please contact the NCSA Allocations group (allocations@ncsa.uiuc.edu). For additional assistance in migrating your code from the CM-5 to the T3D/T3E machines, please contact either the NCSA HPC Consulting Office (217-244-1144, consult@ncsa.uiuc.edu) or the PSC Consulting Office (800-221-1641, remarks@psc.edu).
