- Capability Computing Conference and Workshop
- NCSA and SGI are hosting a conference and workshop in early May addressing capability computing
on the NCSA Origin2000 system. Take a look at the conference announcement and
the list of speakers to see if you or members of your research team would benefit from attending
the two-day conference or the two-day workshop.
§
- VisAD
- VisAD is a Java class library for interactive and collaborative visualization
and analysis of numerical data. VisAD comes to you from
the the University of Wisconsin-Madison and their Unidata Program Office.
Can VisAD help you with your visualization projects?
§
- Neutron
Star Visualization Techniques
- Visualizing higher density "interior" and lower density "exterior" regions within
the same representation required visualization expert Dave Bock to integrate different
types of visualization primitives together in one scene. Bock describes the
process he followed and gives hyperlinks to the resulting MPEG movies showing
the collision of two binary neutron stars.
§
- A Case Study in Porting and Optimization: NCAR's MOZART
- The MOZART 3D global chemistry simulation is a highly vectorized, multitasked code
that runs at high efficiency on Cray vector computers. What steps are appropriate to move
this model to an Origin2000? This case study walks you through the process.
§
- Testing the Mettle of an Origin2000
- The NCSA Origin2000 hosted several recent benchmark and
library comparison runs. Take a look at the results.
§
- NCSA's SGI
Origin2000 Array Increases to 1024 Processors
- NCSA now has the largest university-based supercomputer in the United States. Read
all about it in this Access press release.
§
- NLANR/DAST Releases New Tools
- Netlog is a C library that replaces standard Unix socket calls with its own wrappers,
which log the calls. Output is either to a local file or via a socket to a client such as
VizNet, a new Java application to visualize network bandwidth performance over time.
§
- Alliance Enabling
Technologies Parallel Computing Team Software Repository
- Tools, libraries, programs, routines -- they are all available at the Alliance
software repository. Also check the deployment grid to learn
the deployment status of the software packages on Alliance machines.
§
- ABAQUS "Wrappers" Simplify Your Work
- ABAQUS software is available to users of NCSA HPC systems. Newly released scripts make it
easier to execute ABAQUS in interactive or batch mode.
§
- Users Participate in NCSA Computer Policy Committee
- As a user, having a chance to take part in the weekly Computer Policy
Committee means an opportunity to offer input about everything from the center's
queue structures to web content.
§
- NCSA
SPP-2000 Exemplar Information on the Web
- If you have been looking for a quick web-based way to check on the status of
the NCSA Exemplar SPP-2000 and job and queue status, look no further.
NCSA's Systems Group released just such a resource in mid-February.

- Symera 1.01 Released
- Symera is a distributed object system that is built on the
Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM). Version 1.01
demonstrates the basic functionality and architecture of the system but
does not employ job (configuration) files or resource scheduling algorithms.
