Installing NCSA's Kerberized FTP
- Install NCSA's
Kerbrized Client Software package.
- Create a desktop shortcut to the Kerberized FTP program.
- Go to installation directory(default = C:\Program Files\HPCMP Kerberos\)
- Locate and right click on the "ftp.exe" program, choosing
"Send To" ==> "Desktop(create shortcut)" from the drop down menus.
- Save NCSA Kerberos configuration file krb5.ini to your installation directory
(default = C:\Program Files\HPCMP Kerberos\)
Getting A Kerberos Ticket
- Use the ticket manager to get a kerberos ticket.
- Launch the ticket manager with krb5.exe shortcuti
created on your desktop when you installed the software.
or
- Launch the ticket manager through the Start menu.
"Start" ==> "Programs" ==> "HPCMP Kerberos" ==> "krb5"
- Make sure the Name field in the lower left has your kerberos
user name (this will be the same as your NCSA LoginID).
- Make sure the Realm field in the lower right has NCSA.EDU
(in all caps).
- Type your password in the Password field and hit Enter.
The password won't be echoed back to you.
- You should now see a kerberos ticket
appear in the main window.
Connecting to NCSA's UniTree(MSS)
- Launch your kerberized FTP session with the desktop shortcut you created
following the installation instructions above.
- Type open mss.ncsa.uiuc.edu in your ftp session window and then
press your enter key twice.
