SGI Altix 3700: Message of the Day

Welcome to co-login1 NCSA's SGI Altix 3700 running ProPack 4

For assistance see /usr/news/User_Assistance

See http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/UserInfo/Resources/Hardware/SGIAltix/
for more detailed information about this system.

Please note that /scratch on Cobalt is a filesystem subject to the
policies described in http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/UserInfo/Resources
/Hardware/CommonDoc/FileSys.html#altix and is actively being purged.

Unauthorized use/access is prohibited.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oct 03, 2007: We will be purging /scratch/users on a regular basis in the
near future. I'm starting out with a 60 day policy and will
tighten that up over time. If you have /scratch/users files
that you need please move them to MASS or your home space.

Oct 12, 2007: *****************************************
	      SEE NOTE BELOW.
The login node for Propak 5 is no longer available.

Oct 22, 2007: We have decided to bring all the systems back to ProPak 4.3
and put them all into production. This should help with the
queue wait times and recent instability. The test systems
for ProPak 5 will no longer be accessible.

Oct 25, 2007:	usr/apps/lib/netcdf has been updated to the latest
version of netcdf. The previous version is available
		 in /usr/apps/lib/netcdf-{version} .

Nov 09, 2007: We have implemented an autologout for idle connects over 4hrs.
Nov 13, 2007: We've changed the max wall clock time on the 'standard' queue
from 18 hours to 50 hours. Please make sure that you are as
accurate as possible estimating the wall clock time of your
job. When wall clock estimates are inaccurate, the performance
of the scheduler suffers, as does general job wait times.

Dec 09, 2007: Cobalt's co-compute1 and co-compute2 will be down for maintenance
              from 8AM until 5PM on 12/18/2007.
co-viz1 - co-viz8 will remain up running jobs.
