Charge Projects
Effective July 1, 1997
NOTE: The following information is for users with more than one project (PSN).
For users that only have one project, use of the commands listed is
inconsequential.
If you have more than one project (PSN), when you log in you will receive
a prompt to select a project. All interactive jobs will be charged to the
selected project. They will NOT apply to batch jobs; by default, batch
jobs will be charged to the first project on your project list. To charge
batch jobs to a specific project, use the bsub -P option in lsbatch when
submitting a job. Setting this option will override the default project (see
below) if set.
Setting a Default Project
-------------------------
You can define (or change) a default project with the 'defproj' command.
After a default project is set, you will no longer be prompted to choose one
of your projects during the login process.
Enter 'defproj' at the prompt to set your default. For example,
% defproj
You currently do not have a default project.
Your projects are ( abc def xyz )
Enter new default project (or none): abc
Default project set to abc.
Enter 'none' at the prompt to unset a default project, and enter a carriage
return to leave your default project unchanged.
See the defproj man page for more information.
IMPORTANT: If you have a default project set, batch jobs will automatically
be charged to the default project at the time that the job starts running.
Changing Projects for Charging
------------------------------
You can also charge to various projects within a logon session.
To begin charging to a different project, use the 'newproj' command.
The syntax is:
% newproj PROJECT
where PROJECT is another valid project for your userid. PROJECT is
then charged until you log off or reissue the newproj command with a
different project.
See the newproj man page for more information.
IMPORTANT: The newproj command ONLY applies to interactive jobs. To charge
batch jobs to a specific project, use the bsub -P option in lsbatch when
submitting a job. Setting this option will override the default project if
set.
Getting Project Information
---------------------------
The command 'projects' displays user project information, including
default project, a list of all the user's projects, and current project.
See the projects man page for more information.
