Scratch Local

      Change in /scratch/local permissions on NCSA's Xeon Cluster
                      December 17, 2005

Effective on Friday, December 23, users will no longer be able to create
directories or files in the top-level /scratch/local directory on tungsten
compute nodes. The following directory is created automatically when the 
batch job starts:

   /scratch/local/$LSB_JOBID

The above directory is automatically deleted when the job ends.

Please replace any references in your batch scripts to /scratch/local/
with /scratch/local/$LSB_JOBID/.  You can begin using /scratch/local/$LSB_JOBID/ 
in your batch scripts now.
