Friendly User

              Friendly User Mode on NCSA's Xeon Cluster
                          March 2, 2004

NCSA's Xeon cluster (tun.ncsa.uiuc.edu) is available to select
"friendly users".

- Note that this is a new machine that is being prepared for production
  mode. Expect to see periodic changes in the environment as we move
  towards this goal.

- The cluster is not intended for "production" runs and we cannot handle
  special requests during this period.

- The cluster (or any part of it) may be taken out of service with very
  little notice during this period.

- We expect that bugs will be found. Please help us improve the cluster by
  reporting any problems or issues to: consult@ncsa.edu

- Since no one is charged for usage, please be careful not to dominate
  the cluster at the expense of other users.

- We would appreciate feedback on the documentation:
  http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/UserInfo/Resources/Hardware/XeonCluster/Doc/

- Please restrict interactive use on the login nodes to compiling and 
  debugging.
