Brief Description:
MSC.Mentat is a finite element pre- and post-processor. It
is a full-featured modeling environment
for almost any kind of structural or thermal geometry. MSC.Mentat provides a meshing facility which facilitates the placement of loads and restraints. Finite element models can be
exported for structural analysis with MSC.Marc and MSC.Nastran.
MSC.Marc/Mentat 2007r1 is available to all NCSA academic users on the following
system:
- SGI/Altix (co.ncsa.uiuc.edu) version 2007r1
All Mentat users must be added to the access list for Marc. Please send email
to csm@ncsa.uiuc.edu to be added
to the access list for Marc.
Commercial use of MSC.Marc is governed by the NCSA Private
Sector Program. Please contact Seid Koric at skoric@ncsa.uiuc.edu
for more information.
Using MSC.Mentat
Type the following command to start MSC.Mentat:
/usr/apps/csm/scripts/mentat_script
Type the following command to list the command line options:

For documentation use the help function in MSC.Mentat.
Note: Remember to set your DISPLAY and xhost variables.
Since Mentat is an iteractive tool please note that interactive limits
on on SGI/Altix are 30min for CPU and 500MB for RAM.
All jobs that exceed these limits will be terminated. If you need interactive limit extension send an email to skoric@ncsa.uiuc.edu with a brief explanation.
If you have problems accessing or using MSC.Mentat at NCSA, please send email to csm@ncsa.edu.
