Setting Eudora to use SPOP
These directions are for setting Eudora to use SPOP instead of kerberos authentication when using the newer Kerberos for Windows. Start by going into your Tools -> Options window to access the settings.
- In the Getting Started section, make sure your incoming mail server is set to pop.ncsa.uiuc.edu and the outgoing server is smtp.ncsa.uiuc.edu. Don't forget to set Real Name, Email, and User Name to your own as well.
- Your Checking Mail section should have "Required, Alternate Port" selected for Secure Sockets when Receiving. Note that a box will pop up prompting you to accept NCSA's SSL certificate the first time you check your mail.
- Incoming Mail should have POP selected as well as Password for Authetnication Style. Please uncheck "Leave mail on server" as it helps to speed up mail checking for you and everyone else.
- Sending Mail should have Secure Sockets set to Never. Note how this is different from the Checking Mail section.
