The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is hosting a workshop on September 23 - 25 targeted at new users of TeraGrid resources.
This workshop will provide an introduction to using TeraGrid computing resources with hands-on activities on TeraGrid systems. The first day will cover the basics of using Unix systems, compiling, porting, and using batch systems. The second day will introduce MPI and OpenMP with hands-on activities using simple applications and batch scripts to demonstrate typical job scenarios. In addition, some debugging techniques will be introduced with hands-on activities debugging some sample programs. The final day will cover multi-core performance issues by examining standard benchmarks and their performance on a variety of multi-core and SMP systems also with hands-on exercises.
The workshop will be limited to 30 participants and preference will be given to researchers with a TeraGrid account. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and notification of acceptance will be on a first-come first-served basis.
