Simulating Social Systems at Scale

Les Gasser

College: Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences
Award year: 2016-2017

This project involves prototyping methods, infrastructure, data (including live data) and visualization for very large-scale social simulations. NCSA personnel are involved in data management, workflow, simulation modeling, and visualization activities. Anticipated outcomes include prototype and proof-of-concept tools and feasibility demonstrations, as well as contributions to basic theory of scalable simulation for social systems, especially those concerned with interdependent information flow and interaction processes, which make conventional divide-and-conquer simulations as used in other academic disciplines less appropriate.
