Virtual Lab for Advanced Design

The Virtual Lab for Advanced Design system is envisioned as a rapid technology evaluation and prototyping environment for projects and programs driven by science-based experiments in hardware, software, and algorithms. In its current configuration, the system consists of two controller nodes, four base nodes, three storage nodes, one high memory node, and network switches. The planned experiments include projects that consider processor, storage, and networking technologies for traditional HPC as well as cloud-based high data throughput applications. Of particular interest are experiments that involve software-defined networks and software-defined environments for data-intensive applications.
