2018 Engineering Open House at NCSA highlights research and innovation

You’ve likely heard about some powerful supercomputers hiding on the Illinois campus. The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) wants to give you a behind the scenes look at the machines and how researchers are using them to change the world during the 2018 Engineering Open House! NCSA’s events are happening on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10. The event is family-friendly and fun for all ages.

Come visit us on Friday, March 9 from 9:00am – 4:00pm to see innovative research from students, faculty and NCSA researchers including, 4K scientific visualizations from our Advanced Visualization Laboratory, free screenings of our documentary, Seeing the Beginning of Time, a hands-on look at how DNA is sequenced, autonomous submarines and computer clusters being built on-site! Take part in our scavenger hunt to win prizes and take home some free giveaways!

Get a behind-the-scenes look at NCSA’s supercomputers, at the National Petascale Computing Facility (NPCF) on Saturday, March 10 from 9:00am – 4:00pm, and see the machine that complete more than 13 quadrillion calculations per second.
