NCSA Industry Conference helps give government and industry competitive edge

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is excited to have hosted the 2018 NCSA Industry Conference, which took place on October 10-11 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Attendees at the conference were given the opportunity to see how through the use of big data and high-performance computing, the NCSA Industry Program is providing industry and government the support needed to be at the technological forefront in their fields. Attendees were able to see real-world examples of how NCSA has helped give partners a competitive edge, network with colleagues in their field, learn about new resources available at NCSA, and participate in break-out sessions and presentations.

The keynote speakers for this year’s conference included Steve Demuth, Chief Technology Officer at Mayo Clinic, who spoke about the work at Mayo Clinic and with NCSA, and NCSA Director Bill Gropp, who gave insight into how NCSA will continue to create new ways to support partners in the future. Other industry partners in attendance this year included Syngenta, Caterpillar, Rolls-Royce, AbbVie, Dell EMC, Cray and more.

“This year’s NCSA Industry Conference was a great success. We invited our partners together to network and share their knowledge and challenges while collaborating on advancements and solutions. Attendees heard from experts and attended specialized presentations to see how NCSA and its partners are pursuing innovations in AI, security, and many other domain areas,” said Director of NCSA Industry Brendan McGinty. “It was rewarding to see our partners highlight the work they’ve been able to accomplish through the the NCSA Industry Program, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s conference on October 9-10, 2019.”
