Homepage for Alan Craig

You have reached the homepage for Alan Craig at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

I have the privilege of working with some very bright people in the Data-Mining and Visualization Division. Some of the things I am interested in include:

In addition to the above, I have recently completed writing a book on Virtual Reality titled Understanding Virtual Reality. My co-author is Bill Sherman. The book was published in September, 2002 by Morgan Kaufmann Publishing.

Outside of work, my biggest interest has to be music. I have played in bands (mostly rock bands, but also jazz, country, and pop) for as long as I can remember. I also have a small record label for children's music called Rabbit Ranch Records, and an ASCAP publishing company called Zimbalon Publishing. Someday I'll get around to making better websites for them.

I'm also interested in radio and electronics. I like to design and repair electrical types of things. I have a commercial FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) with a radar endorsement, and an FCC GMDSS Maintainer license with a radar endorsement. On the amateur side I have an Amateur Extra class ham radio license.

Someday I'll improve this page. Until then, if you are interested in any of the above things, drop me an email at: acraig@ncsa.uiuc.edu
