2018-2019 NCSA Faculty Fellowship application now available

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is beginning the application process for the 2018-2019 Faculty Fellows program. This competitive fellowship program provides a unique opportunity for faculty and researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by offering seed funding for startup collaborative research projects. Those interested should attend the two upcoming events for more information.

NCSA will host a Kick-off Meeting on Friday, January 19 from 1-2 p.m. in the NCSA Building, room 1040 for any Illinois faculty interested in becoming an NCSA Faculty Fellow. The meeting will give an overview of the application process and the program as a whole.

The following Friday, January 26, NCSA will host a second event, the Idea Acceleration Workshop from 10 a.m.-noon in the NCSA lobby. This speed matchmaking event will help potential fellowship applicants find NCSA staff and other researchers with whom to collaborate and build successful proposals. Potential applicants are invited to submit a single slide to Amanda Lombardo. These slides will be used at the event, made available on the NCSA Fellows wiki, and distributed to NCSA staff until the submission deadline. Slides should contain the appropriate contact details (e.g. email address), ideally a photo, and depending on how much information you are comfortable sharing, your project idea, and/or what skills/interests/resources you are interested in finding from NCSA. An example slide may be found on the NCSA Fellows wiki.

Fellowship proposals can then be submitted by individuals or collaborative teams beginning January 27, 2017. Proposals for 2018-2019 are due Feb. 18, 2018. Decisions on funding are anticipated in April 2018. Apply today.

Projects are encouraged that build on existing NCSA activities, major projects and programs, including:
