NCSA and DIA Hosting Sports and Data Analysis Colloquium on February 22


Join NCSA on February 22, 2019 from 11 am – 12 pm as we dive into this world of athletic data analysis with Illinois’ Director of Athletics Josh Whitman, Assistant Football Coach Kingsley Osei-Asibey, Women’s Soccer Head Coach Janet Rayfield, Associate Athletic Director Randy Ballard, Associate Athletic Director, Sports Technology Nick Rogers, and NCSA’s own Rob Sisneros.

Through the hour-long panel, we’ll discuss the future of data analytics at the NCAA level, focusing on everything from analytics to visualization. Registration can be found here.

Abstract:

As the Big Data revolution moves forward, it has become increasingly critical to harness predictive technology for use in collegiate athletics. Data is now being collected on everything from individual player biometrics to a myriad of team statistics in order to improve training, performance and outcomes for the modern athlete. Sophisticated data analytics are also a necessary tool to improve the fan experience while attending athletic events. The panel will discuss their own experiences and observations of scientific data analysis and visualization in athletics as well as future trends.
