NCSA’s Blue Waters Petascale Computing Hackathon now accepting applications

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is pleased to announce that team applications for the Blue Waters Petascale Computing Hackathon are now open. The event will take place September 9-13, 2019 at NCSA. The deadline to apply is July 8, 2019.

The Hackathon will pair research teams with expert mentors with the goal to enable scientific codes to take full advantage of HPC systems. The research groups selected to participate will send teams of at least two developers along with a working application that has the potential to benefit from the petascale-class computing systems to accelerate their research productivity. The end goal is to have applications running efficiently at scale, or with a clear roadmap for enhancing code performance.

The hackathon is intended for research and development teams wanting to:

  • adapt their codes to run on petascale-class systems equipped with CPUs and/or GPUs,
  • optimize applications that already run on petascale computing systems,
  • accelerate machine learning and deep learning applications, or
  • implement other innovative uses of petascale computing systems.

Research teams must apply by July 8, 2019 for full consideration. Selected teams will be notified by August 5, 2019.
