Pokémon GO fad: What designers and data scientists can learn

An alum from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications’ (NCSA) Students Pushing Innovation (SPIN) intern program is taking his work—making interactive models showing the history of a city in Cyprus—to the next level. And he says Pokémon GO is helping him get there.

NCSA has a history of nurturing innovative concepts, and some of the best ideas have come from highly motivated, interdisciplinary students—students like Colter Wehmeier. He’s an architecture graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where NCSA is located. He’s just finished his third year in the program. He will continue his work with our collaborator, the Cyprus Institute Scientific Visualization Laboratory, in the fall.
