TeraGrid, Blue Waters sponsor Symposium on Data-Intensive Analysis, Analytics, and Informatics February 3, 2011 Share this page: Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Email Discovery in a wide range of fields increasingly depends on the ability to apply quantitative techniques to vast collections of data ranging from terabytes to petabytes and beyond. The Symposium on Data-Intensive Analysis, Analytics, and Informatics, sponsored by TeraGrid and the Blue Waters project and hosted by the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, will bring together leaders in the development of algorithms, applications, frameworks, and libraries for addressing data-intensive problems at unprecedented scale. The symposium will be held April 14-15, 2011, in Pittsburgh. Examples of topics that this symposium will explore include new kinds of applications that focus on analytics and informatics, integration of machine-learning algorithms with analysis of multimodal data, ways to express workflows that couple tasks in data-intensive analysis, in-memory applications, and component models for productively building data-intensive applications. The symposium targets approaches and technologies that are being developed now, having near-term applicability and impact for researchers to make more effective use of Blue Waters, NSF “Track 2” systems, and large systems funded by the National Science Foundation and other agencies. The symposium will integrate presentations and group discussion to maximize interaction, identification of common issues, and synthesis of new ideas. The Data-Intensive symposium is organized by Daniel S. Katz (University of Chicago), Scott Lathrop (Shodor/University of Chicago), Amit Majumdar (San Diego Supercomputer Center), Nick Nystrom (Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center), Sergiu Sanielevici (Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center), Dan Stanzione (Texas Advanced Computing Center), and Bob Wilhelmson (National Center for Supercomputing Applications). For symposium details and to register, go to http://www.psc.edu/data-analytics/.
