Project Profile

Atlas of a Changing Earth is a short film that discusses how a new revolution in map making techniques can help us better understand climate change. In its runtime, this work of art relies on supercomputers as well as imagery from space to discuss important topics such as how rising seas threaten coastline communities.

A longtime partner of the Advanced Visualization Lab at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), Atlas of a Changing Earth hopes to educate the public to the terrifying future humanity faces if nothing is done about the climate crisis.

The film will be released as a 24-minute fulldome film for planetariums, museums and space centers. On top of this, Atlas of a Changing Earth will also be available as a 1-hour 4k flat screen film for television and streaming services.
